Beschreibung

The reliability and vulnerability of transport networks are a very important matter for network providers. The more reliable a transport network, the more it is appealing to carriers for making it part of their supply chain. Transport networks have to provide carriers with time efficient alternative routes in case of disruptions. Therefore, we measure the ability of a transport network to absorb the amount of transport which can not pass a disrupted link. Specifically, we concentrate on intermodal freight transport and accordingly intermodal transport networks. In order to analyse these networks we have developed a traffic micro simulation model. Based on collectable data, the micro simulation models a transport network as well as its actual traffic. The application of the model to the Austrian intermodal transport network shows how critical links can be evaluated by this approach.
