The concept of assigning the role of the Constitution s Keeper to a specialized court has been severely questioned initially. Heated debates between Carl Schmitt and Hans Kelsen as leading scholars in the field of constitutional theory of their time bear witness to that. Eventually the Austrian (Kelsenian) model of constitutional adjudication has become a great success after WW II; a success by far not only within the boundaries of the Austrian legal system but in countless countries all over the world.
