DIETORECS - Intelligent Recommendation for Tourist Destination Decision Making

The main objective of the project (DieToRecs) is to develop and validate a recommendation system for destination making. The system will be web based and will access and integrate data managed by two existing tourist portal. DieToRecs will provide personalized recommendations based on user profiles and contextual information. It will be highly interactive and "conversational" adapting the dialogue process as it learns more about the user. The dialogue will be driven by an explicit model of the tourist destination selection decision making, that will be developed analysing existing case repositories. DieToRecs will provide support for direct manipulation of data to enhance user confidence on suggested items. It will support product aggregation for a given destination. This will end up with a "travel plan" that can be used to support the user during the travel (recall events, advise on traffic condition, etc.) by means of his/her portable phone.
