From 2022 to 2024 the Institute for Information Systems and
Society co-produced a film documentary on transhumanistic narratives as found
in major media outlets, in particular Yuval Harari’s book “Homo Deus”. Transhumanist narratives range from
a reductive view on humans as flawed organic algorithms, to direct calls for
technologically enhancing humans in order to improve or overcome biological
evolution. In 2022 Scharzfalter production, a Swiss film team joined a
co-operation with the Institute IS & Society at WU Vienna and based on
additional research by Dr. Oliver Dürr the film was launched in 2024. It has
meanwhile won 7 international film prices, is nominated for an addition 4
awards. Over 30 NGOs and conferences have shown it in 17 different nations in
2024. More information is available in: https://www.wu.ac.at/fileadmin/wu/d/i/ec/Harari/SZ_at_WU_Site__Spiekermann_Das_Harari_Projekt_vs5.docx.pdf
