The Effects of Globalization on Wages, Employment, and Labor’s Share in Austria

The aim of this project is to empirically analyse the impact of globalisation -as measured by the trade and capital flows- on the labor market outcomes in Austria. In order to reflect a full account of the effects, the analysis will be carried out at three dimensions: wages, employment, and the wage share (the share of the total wages in value added). Furthermore the effects on different skill groups (high skilled, medium skilled, low skilled), and white-collar workers vs. blue-collar workers will be distinguished. The analysis will be based on econometrical estimations using detailed panel data of industries.
