Guiding principles are texts which represent the explicit normative charter of an enterprise. The - open - research question is: what do these texts 'really' contain? Which theories and concepts are explicitly and implicitly represented? Which theories and concepts are 'behind' the words? These texts might contain constructions, anticipations, hopes, idealizations, etc. about the business world, the interaction of major participants, goals, rules, etc. which are beyond prescriptive managerial knowledge and theory.
