Abstract

This study investigates the differing relationship between the personality traits signaled by entrepreneurs to investors and subsequent funding success of equity crowdfunding campaigns for technical startups compared to non-technical startups. We focus on the most neglected factor of the Big Five (agreeableness), as its influence becomes relevant depending on the industry of the startups. Our study contributes to better understanding the industry dependency of personality factors perceived by the crowd and how this can influence the success of a campaign in equity crowdfunding.
