Comparatista: italianismo francese e gallicismo italiano

Publikation: Wissenschaftliche FachzeitschriftOriginalbeitrag in FachzeitschriftBegutachtung

Abstract

This short article provides a new etymology for the Italian word "comparatista" and its European equivalents. It is shown that the philological sense of the word arose in Italy based on the second part of "grammatica/filologia comparata", while the sense of specialist of comparative law arose in France and was taken over from there in Italian.
