Abstract
Content of this Master's thesis is to review the theoretical concept of McDonaldization on the practical example Traunstein. This research project is an urban sociological study inspired by the School of Chicago. First of all, a creation of a theoretical basis will be presented. In this process urban sociology and sociology of space approaches and the theory of McDonaldization and its critics will be described. After that, the methodology will be presented and justified. It is a qualitative approach operated by observation and analyzed by the approach of Geertz. Finally, the empirical results from the urban sociological study of Traunstein are presented.
