Abstract
• Technological transformations and global politico-economic interdependencies have led to the rise of global human mobilities.
• Contemporary global mobilities are best understood as an outcome of simultaneous forces of de- and reterritorialization.
• Global mobilities can take different forms from economic and political migration to global nomadism to expatriation.
• For consumers, global mobility can be a source of financial prosperity, upward social mobility, and empowerment, but can also result in feelings of homelessness, insecurity, and social isolation.
