International Summer Universities abroad: An Innovative Way to Foster Supply Chain Management Skills and Competencies

Publikation: KonferenzbeitragKonferenzposter

Abstract

Today, in the domain of logistics and supply chain management (SCM), there is an evident constant quest for well-educated and talented youth. This mainly stems from a persistent gap between actual skills and competences needed in practice and the extent to which they are reflected in present higher education teaching. Accordingly, this paper deals with educators’ ongoing struggle at WU Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Vienna University of Economics and Business) to convey important SCM skills and competences to undergraduate students in an international environment. Our approach proposed here, advocates taking advantage of international summer school (ISU) program opportunities, which allows accelerating the process to attain them to a high extent.
