Abstract

n the first part of the paper in hand, the task of testing for adequacy of a regression relationship is reviewed to give a synopsis of the variety of procedures available. As an illustration consumption functions for Austria are analysed in some detail. The results indicate the importance of testing an empirically specified regression relationship for adequacy.
