Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic which began in early 2020 in the Chinese city of Wuhan had a far-reaching influence on many states, companies, organizations and individuals. Travel was restricted, whole economic branches were shut down and complete divisions of companies were sent into home office overnight. While the list of impacts can be ex-tended indefinitely, the necessary measures brought about a number of challenges. This work addresses two areas of these challenges, digital transformation of business pro-cesses and travel behaviour. After an initial literature review to clarify terminology and to provide a basic understanding of chances, risks, influence factors and trends of both areas, an introduction into the COVID-19 pandemic, the current situation in Austria and worldwide follows. The impact on private and professional life is considered briefly before two case studies investigate the impact on two Austrian non-profit organizations of dif-ferent size. The work concludes with a discussion of findings and gives an outlook for future research.
