Analysis of the persistence of profits within the EU-27 Food Sector

Description

In this paper we analyze the persistence of profits in the food sector in the following EU-27 countries: Belgium, France, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom. We find that in general persistence is less and competition is higher within this sector as compared to the manufacturing sector. Firm size and firm growth seem to be key characteristics in determining persistent profitability.
