Description
The Linux operating system has been gaining more and more support in the past years, such that the availability of ooRexx on that platform has turned out to be a great productivity addition. Almost unnoticed from the public, Linux has been employing a new message bus, dubbed "D-Bus", used e.g. by the kernel to signal kernel events that can be intercepted by subscribed programs. In addition any D-Bus-aware Linux program can be exploited and programmed using the "D-Bus" infrastructure. This talk introduces a new ooRexx package that makes it possible for Rexx programmers to take advantage of D-Bus, enabling powerful ooRexx (script) programs. This support will also become available for MacOSX and Windows, for which D-Bus ports exist.
