Description
This work summarizes levers for perishable food waste prevention by advanced forecasting techniques. Findings are derived from an explorative Delphi study with 20 experts from the European grocery industry. Propositions are revealed in the context of advanced forecasting for directing supply chain planning towards food waste prevention. Potential features were mapped for advanced forecasting and performance measures that parallelize with food waste. Not only current challenges and best practices are examined regarding food waste prevention in practice, but also knowledge sharing potentials are identified by considering implications in simultaneous vertical and horizontal collaboration.
