The Application of Process Analytics in the field of Smart Logistics: Examples from Airfreight and Road Transportation

  • Claudio Di Ciccio (Speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentationScience to professionals/public

Description

A wide range of research works are being carried out to enhance the capability of monitoring the execution of ongoing Smart Logistics logistics business processes and predict their likely evolvement. To that extent, it is crucial to have in place an infrastructure that provides the capability of automatically elaborating, analysing and interpreting the digitalised transportation-related events stemming from widespread sources. After a discussion on the topic, the talk is centred about two main research endeavours originated in the context of a European research project, namely Green European Transportation (GET) Service. In the first one, an approach is shown where predictive analytics are applied to identify flight diversions in a timely manner, based on the automated classification of sole publicly available flight data. In the second one, preliminary results and open challenges are presented about the derivation of complex events and activity executions out of low-level event data gathered from on-board computers on trucks.
