The conference “The Interplay Between Tax and Financial Regulations in a New Digital Environment” was hosted by the Bank of Italy in Rome, Italy on April 7-8, 2025. It was co-organized bt the WU Global Tax Policy Center at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law, WU, and the Bank of Italy.
The conference brought together representatives from international organizations, governments, regulatory institutions and academia to discuss key topics such as the regulatory landscape of the digital economy, the taxation of crypto assets, and the integration of anti-money laundering and tax compliance measures within this evolving environment. The participants got insights into the transformational potential of Central Bank Digital Currencies, the role of tokenization, and Distributed Ledger Technology in reshaping markets and tax systems.
