Short biography

Bodo B. Schlegelmilch is Professor Emeritus at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria.

Starting at Deutsche Bank and Procter & Gamble, he continued his career at the Universities of Edinburgh and California, Berkeley. Professorships at the University of Wales and the Thunderbird School of Global Management followed. He served as Chair of AMBA & BGA, which accredits business schools in more than 80 countries, and was Founding Dean of the WU Executive Academy, the leading Business School in Austria. He also initiated several MBAs and led the Vienna Executive MBA into the Financial Times Top 50 ranking.

Bodo received numerous teaching and research recognitions, including Fellowships from the Academy of International Business, the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. The American Marketing Association conferred the Significant Contribution to Global Marketing Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Higher Education. Thammasat University in Bangkok recognized him with a Bualuang ASEAN Chair, and the Academy of Marketing Science with the Outstanding Marketer of the Year Award.

Bodo taught in 33 countries on six continents. His research appeared in leading journals, such as the Strategic Management Journal, the Journal of International Business Studies, and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. In addition to some 160 journal papers, he published 16 books in English, Mandarin and German. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Marketing and on editorial boards of the Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Research in Marketing, AMS-Review, and other top journals.

Initially educated in Germany, he holds a PhDs in Global Marketing Strategy and a DLitt in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from the University of Manchester, UK., and an honorary PhD from Thammasat University in Thailand.
