Short biography

Carlos O. Rocha Ochoa holds a BA in international studies from the University of Guadalajara, with a focus on German and European studies, and later specialized in translation at the University of Mainz. He also holds an MA in Nordic philology from the University of Iceland and an MA in applied linguistics and semiotics from Korea University. He is currently a research and teaching associate at the Institute of Romance Languages at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and a PhD candidate at the same institution. In addition, he is a certified Spanish teacher by both International House and the University of Salamanca, as well as an official DELE examiner by the Cervantes Institute and a SIELE test trainer. Apart from his academic endeavors, Carlos has established himself as a freelance translator from English, German, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish for a number of international agencies, companies and publishers over the past one and a half decades.

Research interests

Languages for specific purposes (LSP), terminology, lexicography, translation, and lexical and pragmatic variation in Spanish and Portuguese.
