Short biography
Born in Vienna in 1952, studied Romance languages and literature, Slavic studies and general linguistics; lectureships abroad in Nice and Zagreb; 1981-1995 university assistant and university lecturer at the Institute for Romance Languages at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration; 1995-2000 professor for applied linguistics at the TU Chemnitz; 2000 return to WU Vienna as university professor for Romance languages (French and Italian); main research interests: foreign and specialised language didactics, language and communication knowledge of and for non-linguists (language awareness / folk linguistics), intra- and intercultural communication problems, language policy / language management, gender and queer linguistics.
