    Description

During the preparatory pilot study on "information behaviour for vacation travel planning: a longitudinal analysis" valuable experiences could be generated for the organisation of a panel study. The current study (project funded by the "Jubiläumsfonds der Austrian National Bank") will be extended by scope and will now run more efficiently. The following objectives are pursued:
    * to close a gap in the research field of information behaviour with respect to the methodology applied ('real longitudinal approach')
    * revision of the validity of ex-post analyses of the information and decision behaviour
    * the role of ongoing and pre-purchase search in travel decision-making
    * importance of various information sources, particularly of the internet
    * detection of typical patterns in sequences of trip planning activities dependent on the planning and decision horizon
