    Whereas compensation for managers is a traditional topic in human resource management research, little research has been done on compensation practices in Nonprofit Organizations so far. The aim of this project is to investigate empirically the functions of compensation systems in Nonprofit Organizations. To develop hypotheses on possible functions of compensation systems and their determinants, narrative interviews with leaders from Austrian Nonprofit Organizations are conducted.
