Data compression and information reduction in statistical experiments

Complex data structures can be analyzed by statistical modelling only in a very limited range. A remedy is offered by a reduction of the complexity of the data set. This has to be done in such a way that the loss of information is as small as possible. The project considers practical and theoretical ways of achieving such a data compression.
