    Shifting demographics, globalisation and changes in roles and identities brought diversity on the agenda of cities during the last decades. But until now, diversity (and its management) is understood in rather static terms. Often essentialist understandings of idenity coin diveristy (management) programs and the intersections of diversity dimensions is not taken into account. Accordingly public administrations often try to deal with different diversity dimensions in different departments of the administration. Our research project consequently researches ways to enrich diversity concepts using concepts of intersectionality and faultline research. Taking a selected district in Vienna as a case study, the project will collect empirical data about the understandings and management of diversity to enrich the diversity concept and searches for possible ways of implementing this enhanced understanding in public administrations.
