Measuring outcomes of home care

Project Details

Description

Registered nurses visit 15,000 out of 400,000 Austrian cash benefit recipients per year. They provide information to people in need of care and (if available) to their informal carer. Part of their visit is the collection of data on the living circumstances of the cash benefit recipient, the support s/he gets (care arrangements), “outcome/quality of care”, socio-demographic characteristics of the primary informal carer and indicators of carer burden.

The QI-project commissioned by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection aims at developing and testing indicators to measure outcomes / quality of care. The new toolkit will be implemented in 2012.
