Description
Decreasing public funding and the trend towards marketization in the spirit of New Public Management concepts have caused a growing pressure on federal museums to increase their financial revenues without jeopardizing their academic and educational mission. Hence, the importance of museum stores regarding their contribution to the museums' success increased. This project focuses on(1) the impact of marketization in the sense of NPM on the strategy of museums, (2) how museum shops (can) support the achievement of the multiple strategic objecitves of federal museums and (3)how the consumer behavior of museum shop visitors can be characterized.
