Important goals for WU Vienna are attractive workplaces and working hours for the personnel (WU Policy). Changed work design measures via mobile working increase the attractiveness as an employer and at the same time enable positioning in the national and international university landscape with regard to modern working conditions. Based on many years of experience in designing home office workplaces for selected groups of employees, mobile working has been offered in various models for all general staff at WU Vienna since October 2020. This process is linked to strategic decisions and a variety of questions regarding the organization of the daily work routine. The flexibilization of work in terms of time and place requires different demands on managers, employees, teams, and the organization as a whole. This change in work affects processes and structures and means a cultural change for the organization. The aim of the study is to accompany changed work structures with regard to organizational learning. Existing knowledge and resources, as well as expectations, are analyzed, opportunities and risks of different models are elaborated and concrete recommendations for action for a sustainable, diversity-friendly implementation are presented.
