Description
Multinational corporations and their economic activities in developing countries are often scrutinized for their effect on political stability in the host country. The exploitation of resources and labour force in the primary sector is theorized to exacerbate grievances and greed among the population. Yet, recent research also suggests foreign companies to fulfil the role of peacebuilders by creating opportunities for the local population. Using geo-referenced data, this research project aims to explore the role of multinational corporations in conflict and peacebuilding at the sub-national level.
