This project centres around the following interrelated research questions: What is the impact of organisational learning on a manufacturing company's competitive position? In what kind of environment is organisational learning an important issue? What are suitable organisational structures and techniques for stimulating organisational learning? What is the effect of learning by firms on the strengths of competition, rate of innovation and market structure?

The principal method for seeking answers to these issues will be the simulation of an Artificial Life System (ALS) consisting of properly enhanced Classifier Systems that model the evolution of the business rules of a manufacturing company.
