Description
Shared autonomous electric vehicles (SAEVs) are expected to be gradually released to the market in upcoming decades, leading to disruptive changes in the mobility sector with potentially strong environmental and socioeconomic implications. The typically strong path dependency in transport policies calls for near-term policy action.
SimSAEV simulates the potential effects of SAEVs in Vienna under different scenarios, yielding specific advice for policy makers on how to maximize the environmental and economic gains of the new technology, while keeping the transport system efficient and socially inclusive.
We will use an agent-based model that is able to represent the complex interactions between the transportation system, socioeconomic factors and environmental factors. It builds on a recently developed, state- of-the-art transport model for Vienna.
The simulations will yield specific advice for policy-makers that captures the inherent uncertainty due to the novelty of the technology. An active stakeholder involvement process will ensure that policy-makers and other relevant stakeholders are included in the design of the policy scenarios as well in the dissemination of the results.
