Description
This study aims to examine the impact of socio-demographic factors on internal migration within Austria. In this regard, one major focus is to analyse the effect of relative deprivation on the migration behavior of individuals as well as households. In order to conduct this analysis, micro data from register data are sourced. Based on these data, aggregated migration as well as individual migration flows between Austrian municipalities can be captured over several years. In a first step the effect of social, institutional and geographical characteristics of origin as well as host municipalities on aggregated internal migration flows is studied. In a further step individual migration behavior is modeled, whereby the role of characteristics of origin as well as host municipalities is investigated in a more detailed way.
