Project Details
Description
The main purpose of our research is to provide a first overview of the wealth situation of women in Austria at the individual level, and to compare it with the situation in Germany.
Our research aims at analysing two individual, but related research questions. First, we explain what one needs to know about the wealth situation of women in Austria and Germany to understand the economic situation of women. We will focus on a literature review as well as a discussion about missing perspectives and survey methods.
Second, we use descriptive statistics and indicators to explain the wealth situation of women in Austria and Germany living without a man in the household and compare it with the wealth situation of women living with men in one household, as well as with wealth of men, who are living with/without women in the household. To gain a more detailed picture we also apply different categories of intersectionality, such as age, origin, presence of children, household size, residential situation and education.
To analyse our research questions, we expect to work with data from the Household Finance and Consumption Survey for Austria, as well as from the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) for Germany.
