Distribution effects and social meaning of housing subsidy schemes

    The aim is to investigate direct and indirect distribution effects of housing subsidy schemes that arise due to changes in household income. The project of split into two parts: in the first part effects of redistribution of the Austrian "Bundesländer" are analysed and secondly a scenario of potentially positive distribution effects in the New Member States of the European Union are investigated. In the centre of argumentation are the socioeconomic needs of Prague and Budapest. Despite of differences in the needs of quantitative and qualitative developments of dwellings this Central European Region can be compared with the experiences of Vienna.
