The project "Female Identities between Cultures" was based on oral impromptu narratives obtained in extensive interviews with Russian female immigrants living in Vienna today. Research was focused on cultural resources - attitudes, values, beliefs - activated by our interview partners in order to cope with the new social environment, to position themselves within it and acquire a capacity for action, on the one hand, and attitudes, values and beliefs prevailing in the country of immigration hampering these attempts, on the other. For the description and interpretation of the discourses activated by the women in their narratives we made use of Critical Discourse Analysis methods.
