An empirical study including 91 Austrian profit and nonprofit organizations analyses their concern of, their expectations in and their measures of knowledge management. The degree of concern is significantly influenced by R&D-activities. Specific expectations in knowl-edge management could not be identified. Most of the measures taken are rather traditional like training or using periodicals as sources of knowledge. Measures like knowledge maps, which are often cited in literature are rarely used in Austrian organizations.
