Abstract
The fields of business process management and routine dynamics both investigate organizational processes. However, the lexicons, methods, and aims of these disciplines are very different from one another. In this chapter, we reflect on both disciplines to outline similarities and differences.
We introduce the reader to the BPM life cycle and explain how computational techniques from business process management can be used to investigate organizational routines. We hope that this will be a first step in bringing both disciplines closer to one another.
