Abstract

The article examines the perception of Austrian housing cooperatives in the Austrian general public. Alongside a brief introduction to the Austrian non-profit housing sector and the distinction of housing cooperatives thereafter, the level of knowledge among Austrian citizens is analyzed. Subsequently the image of housing cooperatives, from the perspective of members as well as non-member customers, is presented. The findings indicate that housing cooperatives perform significantly better in different dimensions of members' and non-members' perception than other property developers.
