Abstract
In this chapter, evolutionary economics and economic history are contrasted with respect to their ontological and heuristic foundations. From this, conclusions are drawn as to how evolutionary economics can be regarded as a particularly promising approach for research in economic history, and important aspects of economic evolutionary research are discussed from the perspective of the historical tradition of economic history.
