Abstract

The book integrates two disciplines- economics and political science- to map the past, present and future of the territorial allocation of authority in health and social care in secected countries of Western Europe. Our book section deals with health and social care in Austria which is organised in separate systems. We provide information on the legal and political foundations of federalism in Austrian health and social care, describe both systems in detail by linking the present to past developments and assess the impact of federalism on the performance of the two systems.
