Abstract

The dataset contains novel decadal information at municipality level on the stock of roads, highways and railroads since 1900 until 2010. Additionally, it includes the development of the urban system consisting in cities with more than 15,000 inhabitants. The dataset has been constructed using georeferenced information that was digitized using ArcGis, historical maps and archival material from the Ministry of Transport (SCT), and the National Archive (AGN). The dataset and shapefiles depicts the following events:
-Development of the Road Network, 1900-1925
-Development of the Mexican Highway Network, 1925-2010
- Development of Railroad Network, 1900-2010
- Development Urban System in Mexico, 1900-2010
