Abstract
This article deals with Instrument and place nouns, more specifically, with the frequent syncretism observable between them. It is shown that this syncretism does not generally arise from a direct semantic Extension from one category to the other, but to factors such as borrowing, homonymization, ellipsis, reanalysis, or the concretization of action nouns.
