Planning model-based modular course curriculum for higher education didactics

Abstract

This paper presents the FLUENT model and the FLUENT curriculum. FLUENT is an acronym that stands for Flexible Universal Education Model for a New Hybrid. The model and the curriculum are contemporary higher education didactic interventions that were developed in a design-based research process to respond to current changes in the higher education teaching environment. Both interventions serve as the foundation for the development of a modern modular online course for university staff involved in higher education teaching. In addition to these two specific interventions themselves, valuable insights for the design and construction-phase of interventions can be gained from the documentation of this design-based research process. These insights are discussed at the end of this paper.
