Abstract
Among the economic problems raised by a degrowth transition, two recur frequently in debates: if we produce and consume less, (1) "employment will fall and both unemployment and inequality will soar", (2) "the amount of tax revenue and social security contributions will fall, and we will no longer be able to pay for public services or social protection. Fewer teachers, fewer judicial staff, fewer healthcare workers, lower pensions and lower healthcare reimbursements". This article aims to answer these legitimate questions by showing that such negative consequences are avoidable.
