Religion and career success. A country-comparative study

Publication: Chapter in book/Conference proceedingChapter in edited volume

Abstract

Empirical evidence linking religion and spirituality to career-related aspects is scarce, particularly with regard to a more global picture. This chapter responds to this gap by analysing the effects of the religious composition of a country and its proportion of religiously active inhabitants on two dimensions of career success, that is, positive impact and financial success. Our data stems from a collaborative effort of the 5C group (Cross-Cultural Collaboration on Contemporary Careers) covering 23 countries across the world suggesting a positive relationship between religious aspects and positive impact and an absent or slightly positive relationship with financial success.
