Abstract

This paper analyses tournament entry decisions in professional tennis. Focusing on a substantial change in the trade‐off between ranking points and prize money slightly around the Top 100 ATP ranking position threshold, we find that these players have a preference for tournaments with a lower level of competition. As further we result, we find that players prefer tournaments located in their home country.
