Publication: Scientific journalJournal articlepeer-review

Abstract

The article focuses on the ways in which late modern societies simulate the ongoing validity of modernist values and ideals for sustainability. It is stated that sustainability should be regarded as a certain frame of mind and only in a secondary ways a concrete set of conditions and relations towards the social and ecological development in the empirical world. It offers notion that the contemporary frame of mind is not negligent of the ecological concerns that it actually theoretically appreciates and shares. It is suggested that the unsustainability of the contemporary frame of mind is not just one of its curable faults, but an essential feature.
